When will I start seeing results?

Most customers begin to notice a reduction of hair after just 4 - 6 weeks (while your hair is in Anagen growth phase), with complete results after 12 weeks. However, results vary from person to person, based on hair colour, intensity level and hormonal issues amongst other factors. It is recommended to continue use, to acheive desired results.

Are results permanent?

Yes! Our device leads to a permanent reduction of hair growth. That being said, results vary from person to person. If you notice patches of hair growing back over time, we recommend you continue use for touch ups

How often should I use the device

A full course treatment for IPL is 12 weeks. When using a My Smooth Skin IPL device, it is recommended to have 3 treatments per week for the first 4 weeks. Week 5 - 8 do 2 treatments per week, then Week 9 - 12 do 1 treatment per week. Remember to remove any hair on the surface of your skin before treatment. Do not wax, as your follicles have to be intact. You may use our Lady Shaver, or shave with razors.

Does it work for my hair colour?

IPL is not suitable for very light hair colours that lack sufficient pigment (melanin).

Specifically, it’s less effective or ineffective on:

  • White / Grey hair
  • Very light blonde hair
  • Red / Ginger hair

👉 The reason: IPL works by targeting the melanin pigment in the hair follicle. When the hair is too light or lacks pigment, the light can’t be absorbed effectively, so the follicle isn’t heated enough to disable regrowth.

It works best on dark blonde to black hair — especially when paired with light to medium skin tones that provide strong pigment contrast.

Does it offer any other skin benefits?
